Westgate Resorts Former Employee Vent Blog

Scoundrels, Scallywags and Downright Crooks!!!!

Those aren't my words.....those are the first words in the Nevada Real Estate Law and Regulations manual that one receives in training to get into the real estate business, used to describe the Timeshare Industry.
Welcome everyone, here it is.....finally a place where former Westgate Resorts employees can come to at very least.....tell the world their story of how Westgate has treated them, whether it be stolen reserve accounts, employee treatment without the benefits, less than minimum wage pay and just spreading the lies Westgate creates and instills in its sales people to pass on to prospective buyers

My name is Kim Lawson, I worked for Westgate for about one and a half years. I must say from day one I felt like this had to be a at best shady profession but I knew nothing about the business so I played the game.

So...here's my story and I hope there are hundreds of other former employees that will follow my lead to at least have a place where the next generation of possible Westgate Resorts sales people can vent. I'd sue David Seigel but I don't have the money to do so.......and they know it.

I remember my interview with the manager the day I was hired. I was telling him about my sales background in Real Estate, he began trying to sell me on an idea of getting in on the ground level of a motorized concrete leveler thing. This was on my very first interview with Westgate Resorts. Well.....I was hired to work for Westgate and began training.

Once training was over, as an Independent Contractor.....I was REQUIRED to be at work at 8:25 every day for the sales meeting. Then after the sales meeting I was required to loaf around until the rotation came up to my name, at which time I would go meet with unqualified prospects and hope that I get one that has money that may fall for the BS (in my opinion) that we're selling them. I was REQUIRED to stay at work until 2:30 or 3:30 every day in case my number came up again. I had to get permission to take off work and could be fired if I didn't show up for work for too many days. Doesn't sound to Independent to me.......sounds like I was an employee with NO BENEFITS.

When you go to work for Westgate you sign a contract that says that Westgate will create a reserve account and take out 10% or so of each check until you get $3500 in to your account that will be held in reserve so when you quit and you get cancellations....they can pull your money back from what they paid you. Well to all you Prospective Westgate Sales People.......THAT IS MONEY YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK!!!!!
Westgate managers brag because they have the lowest cancellation rate in the industry.......while other companies have 17-25% cancellations and Westgate maintains about 5%. Well here this......when you try to get your reserve account money back......you'll find that 100% of your pending deals have cancelled. So they say. When I contacted Westgate after the 6 months you have to wait after you quit. The accounting lady told me that I had $5800 in my reserve account which includes $3500 in reserves and $2300 in pending sales that I should be paid for. She told me that ALL my that came due so far have cancelled and those that have not come due still owe money on their down payment so I won't get paid until they get their entire down payment in.

Here's the way I found that it works. Westgate has no intention of paying you ANY of your reserve account. They STEAL it from you!
The contract reads apparently that former employees must wait 6 months from date of termination to collect reserve account funds.
They are hoping you've moved on and forgot about it.....and believe me, most do.
I'm a little different. I may never collect a dime from the rat bastard and I can't afford to fight the billionaire in court, so this is my avenue to attempt to enlighten a few to the in my opinion, criminal acts of these Scoundrels, Scallywags and Downright Crooks.
Yeah....thats me on the left with David Seigel. This picture truly makes me sick. I have a real hard time with people that can look you in the eye and screw you without thinking out it.
Oh.....I could go on forever. The things I've done, heard and been through. But I'm going to put this out to the world and see how it grows.
I only hope that the pompas ass David Seigel, will get about $5800 worth of my own opinion and the continued stories from other former Westgate Employees (independent contractors) that will get their $$$ worth of venting to Mr. Seigel. Hey David......where's my money?
